first meeting

jonathankiddycrane:

Jon chuckled yes books were amazing also they were the best weapons in the world. After all knowledge is power, and in addition you could throw them, use em to stop a speeding bullet and use them as blunt weapon. Library’s where the true arsenals of the world. “It might be a mix of the smell of books and the silence.”

Jon blinked had he just heard right? “My…room?”

“Yes your room. You can’t live in the living room, now can’t you?” Jervis laughed a bit and waited for Jonathan to stand up and follow him. “You can take the cup with you, if you want to.” He mentioned.

first meeting

jonathankiddycrane:

“Now in the summer months I will be walking unless it rains but my tendency goes to taking the bus in winter at least in the morning. Gotham is dangerous enough no need to chance things.” He needed some form of work out after all. “Besides the Bus runs rather late and I like spending some of my time before class in the school library.”

Jervis listened to Jonathan with interest and nodded to his words. The boy was one of the smartest kids he had ever met.
“That is true”, he said. “I loved to spend time in the school library as well when I was your age.” Jervis smiled gently. “I though it was the best place ever. Even though I liked to be in school, in the classes, there was something… fascinating in the library. I had the feeling of being safe. And the place was much more better than my home.”

Without continuing any more of his childhood he stood up and put his glass on the sink.
“Would you like to see your room?”

first meeting

jonathankiddycrane:

“Usually I only fall back in the southern drawl when I am nervous or angry. Admittedly I use it sometimes to tease my peers.”

Young Jonathan was glad for the subject change. He know hardly anything about his family only that his Mother left him behind and that that terrible wretch of an old women tended to him.He drunk some of his cocoa before he went on.

“It does quite a bit, it’s a ten minute difference give or take a minute.”

“Oh, but that’s nice”, Jervis said. “Do you go by foot or do you usually take a bus?”
The communications in Gotham were rather good, yet it was sometimes faster to walk from place to place.

first meeting

jonathankiddycrane:

“Accent?..Ah dear ah’ve been slurring ahll this time.” He flushed a bit embarrassed to not have noticed up till now. “Ah’m from Georgia Mr. Tetch.” He took the cup surprised to find it wasn’t tea as every other Jervis had insisted him have so far. “Thank you.” Good he was getting his accent in check again it was terribly embarrassing and a horrible reminder of his past.

”No no no, it’s alright”, Jervis said, trying to make little Jonathan feel better. “It doesn’t bother me at all.” He smiled.
Jervis understood the whole being ashamed of his own accent thing very well.
“So you are from Georgia? Well I seriously can’t remember the place where spent the first three years of my childhood, so I would say I’m originally from here, Gotham. But my parents were from Europe. My father was an Englishman and my mother came from Ireland.”

He rarely shared these kind of things with anyone, but since Jonathan was part of his family now, Jervis thought he had the right to know something about him.
“So when I was a child I had trouble to speak with a normal American accent…” He took a sip of his water again. “But I managed. It took a lot of years, of course, but with enough ambition I achieved it.”

After he finished his glass of water, he wanted to change the subject:
“So, you are in the St Paul’s Private School, am I right? I guess your school trip gets a bit shorter when you and Alice move here.”
